The big moment...

It was sunny and hot that day!

We were married shortly after 11:00 am under a beautiful blue sky by Lynn Katey, our marriage commissioner.  The processional began with the two mothers of the bride and groom being seated while escorted by their sons.  Red floral arrangements marked the entrance to the seating area while an archway garlanded by red berries stood in front.  Music by Jim Brickman played as the bridesmaids, dressed in red satin and organza, began the processional down granite stairs (which were treacherous in heels!) and onto the lawns.  Petra, escorted by her father, made it down the stairs and up the aisle without incident.  The ceremony was elegant and meaninful, and featured the song "You've Got a Friend in Me" sung by the bride's cousin Melissa and her father, Rick.  Finally, things came to a conclusion as the newly wed couple  made their way back down the aisle to Frank Sinatra's tune "Ain't Love a Kick in the Head."

Don't trip!

The reception...

Cecil Green House

You could not have crammed one more person in!

We had a lovely lunch catered by UBC's catering services inside Cecil Green Park house at about 12:30 pm.  The cake was made and decorated by Petra's mother, who took a decorating course just for this occasion. Friends and family helped moved ceremony decorations into the reception area while the bride's brother Corin set up a slide show about the couple in a room with the DJ. (author's note:  he still hasn't given a copy to his sister yet, so she hasn't actually seen it)  Between the end of the ceremony and lunch, guests socialized while the family took had photos taken by Chloe Stockdale, a wedding photographer and wife of one of Aaron's friends.

For lunch, guests had a choice of red snapper, red pepper ravioli or roasted spring chicken with salad greens, seasonal vegetables and roasted red potatoes. After several poignant speeches, the guest retired to the (much cooler) terrace outside for coffee and tea, and some of Petra's mom's yummy cake!

The bride and groom left for Hawaii a few days later. (See our "Trips and Travels" page)
